The Title Clerk processes car deals, verifies costs, and prepares legal transfer of documents for the DMV.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepare tax and title documents.
Ensure the correct vehicle title is accurately placed in the proper customer name and address with the correct lien information.
Submit all legal transfer documents to the DMV/TAX OFFICE.
Prepare payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins or submit online via IN Honda or Dealertrack.
Ensure that the name and address filed are updated on an ongoing basis.
Apply for duplicate titles as needed.
Call on all titles that have yet to come in regularly to avoid missed titles.
Process tax work for all 50 states within 30 days.
Maintain tax and payoff schedules. Tax work should be under 30 days at all times. Payoffs must be completed when the deal has funded.
AVOID PENALTIES at all costs and keep mistakes to a minimum. Disciplinary action will be taken if it consistently occurs.
Scan completed paperwork.
Maintain inventory for completion of duties such as license plates, title applications, reassignment forms, POAs, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales agreements, tax and title documents, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
